For my final project of the semester, I was required to join a team of my classmates and work on a business proposal/solution. This paper details the process of the project. Each team member was to write a portion of the paper. My parts are: "Project Description", "Problem Question" "Policies and Politics", and the "Contract".
My instructor asked, "How does this assignment illustrate the growth/change/progress you have made in this class?"
My response: I realized that I really want to find a job where I am to work independently. I found that while I am capable of working in a team, it is not something I wish to do as a day to day job requirement. I found myself taking a leadership position at times, and became aware that I am capable of having that position. I also became aware that I am fiercely independent, and do not want to rely on others to get tasks done. I would much rather do my own work and be judged on my own merits, rather than having to be judged in a group.
My instructor also asked: "How can you apply what you've learned in this class to other classes, to the workplace, and to other areas of your life?"
My response: I will be more comfortable doing team work projects in the future. I will make a personal commitment to myself to do everything that is required/expected of me to the best of my abilities. I will not do other's work for them. If a project is due, and others haven't done their part, then that is on them, and not myself. I will make sure my bosses/instructors/ friends, etc. know what my part is in any project, and make it clear to them that I have completed my part of any team effort.
